An outbreak of Paramyxovirus in Victoria has implications for all pigeon keepers in Australia.
This particular variant of the disease has a 100% mortality rate, which is devastating for those affected but it does mean that if contained the virus will likely die out very rapidly. It is therefore important to ensure that the spread of the virus is contained by reducing/preventing contact between different flocks of pigeons. Particularly important not to import pigeons from Victoria until the disease is controlled.
